New Arrival, NOT a baby!

Today we had something new! A spare at Love to Spare, that is older than my kids. Our friend Brianne will be coming over for a bit through July and then more regular in August as her mama is getting a promotion and going to dayshift. In fall Brianne will be a kindergartner so she will leave us then, but maybe we'll see her here and there throughout the school year. Brianne and Rowan were quite enchanted by each other. Rowan with another little girl to flirt with and dote on him, and Brianne with another baby to adore her. Penny and Brianne spent most of the morning tickling him. Brianne is also a Type 1 diabetic, this added a new spin on the day, havign to count carbs and check blood sugars, it wasn't as worrisome as I thought it could be, but then I've known Brianne for 3 years now and I've been around it a fair deal. Besides, now, she's 5, check the above photo out, she got all the supplies out and went through the entire process of testing herself, all on her own, sweet! I am so proud of her, this step has been long in coming and we all are so proud of her!

There was lots of fun to be had. At one point all of us were upstairs and as the three older ones decided to come help get Rowan up, the boy who thinks dragging his pacifier across the crib bars (ala tin cup on prison bars) is hysterical. All four of them were laughing their heads off and screaming in Penny's room, I have no idea what was so entertaining. We also took great care of Brianne's nintendo DS puppies, which Penny becoming obsessively concerned about as well. We spent some good time outside today during some of the boys' naps, and having Josh chase the girls, a lot. Which he absolutely adored. In the afternoon Penny was ecstatic to finally get to make her apple pie that we made the crust dough for on Sunday. The girls each got to roll out the dough for and fill their own apple pies. No we won't be baking everyday, but it was there, they wanted to do it, why not? Besides, it tastes good.
